As of , there are principal licenses operating premise locations that are performing different cannabis activities.
Principal License (Business Entity)
This is the license of a registered business entity (LLC, Corp, etc.). It is the first license issued in the CCD's license structure. The address associated with this license is usually the business headquarters.
Definition
The Principal License is the foundational cannabis license issued by the Cannabis Control Division (CCD) to a registered business entity. It is the first license granted within the CCD’s licensing framework and is typically associated with the entity’s primary business address or headquarters. Vertically integrated licensees will have one principal license number, additionally all licensed premises associated with the principal license will have a unique numerical identifier. Stand-alone licenses will also have a principal license number, however, each stand-alone premise, and each approved licensed activity will have separate individual numerical identifiers.
Licensed Premise
This is one of the licensed areas a Principal License has registered with the CCD. A Principal License can register multiple premises. Two separate Principal Licenses can also choose to operate at one location / address, but those licensees will be listed as two distinct premises.
Definition
The licensed premise number is the number issued by the CCD that is associated with the business’s physical address (i.e. the location where the cannabis business activity occurs). Multiple licensees may hold multiple licenses at the same premise, each stand-alone entity licensed for a function at a premise will have a unique premise number. Vertically integrated licenses approved for multiple functions at the same physical address will have one licensed premise number for that address.
Licensed Activity
This is the licensed activity that occurs at each premise. Multiple activities can occur at one premise.
Definition
The licensed activity means the privileges of the license type the CCD has approved the entity to engage in. Each separate activity occurring at a premise must be licensed and approved by the CCD. Vertically integrated operators will have all the approved licensed activity identified directly on their license associated with the licensed premise. Stand-alone licensees will have a unique identifier associated with each approved licensed activity at each licensed premise.
